Course Description | Sustainable Agriculture Production II further investigates food production through practice and application of principles and knowledge established in Sustainable Agriculture Production I. An emphasis on proven methods employed to sustain a growing population are woven into all facets of the course. Students gain knowledge of 21st century agriculture through further exploration of renewable energy, precision agriculture, biotechnology, and breeding programs. Students discover cultivation of bees, aquaponics, mushrooms, vermicomposting and commodities of their choice while applying food safety and industry standards for sustainable production. Students also acquire foundations of leadership, business, and marketing principles necessary for competitive sustainable agricultural companies, and individuals in the workforce are also reinforced in this course. Leadership development and employability skills are integral to the course and are delivered through authentic experiences. English language arts, mathematics, and science are reinforced. |
